Unwanted Guest

Have you been diagnosed with cancer and have ended treatment? Read on. This post is for you.

At the time of the diagnosis, cancer seems to take over many aspect of your life. It occupies your thoughts, your time, your energy, your family, your home!
And for a good reason. You try to make sense of this invader; try to make the right choices around it. Your kitchen fills up with bottles of various concoctions, vitamins, cold pressed oils, organic foods, juices and on and on. You sometimes feel like you live in a pharmacy or in a health food store. Well, that was then.

Since then, you have had time to get used to your different life style and incorporate it more smoothly. You decide to keep some of the vitamins and juices; you decide that eating organic food is a good idea anyway. Maybe you start taking that part of your life more and more for granted.

Your time becomes more your own even though you still have the regular check ups with your Oncologist. Your energy may have picked up as well. Yet, emotionally the cancer is still very much present. It's still there in the back room of the house playing havoc with the family's stress level.

I wonder: is it time to take charge? Is it time to declare your home your sanctuary and ask this unwanted guest to leave? It encouraged you to change aspects of your life style already. As well, it will be there at the doctor's office or at the vitamin shop, but does it still need to occupy a space in your home?

Perhaps it is time to re-claim your space for you and your family.
Perhaps it is time to show it the way out. You could open your front door and ask it to leave, couldn't you?
